A superb nutty Yellow tea from the ancient growing region atop Mt. Mengshan, Sichuan province, which has been producing teas for around 2 Millennia!
Nutty, with a subtle sweetness, but also a mineral and vegetal quality like Green tea. Wonderful smell and taste right from the opening of the bag to the last taste on the tongue.
Yellow teas are relatively rare and involve a 'sealed yellowing' step that softens some of the bitter and astringent notes in green tea into a smoother, sweeter tea, whilst preserving some of the character of a green tea.
This tea has been wrapped and pan fired multiple times, leading to its rich, complex flavour.
Comes in our Golden Dragon Tin.
Meng Ding Huang Ya - Rare Yellow Tea
10% off on 3 teas or infusions
- Water Quality: Filtered water ideal
- Leaf: 2g per cup (~200ml)
- Water temperature: 75-80C
- Steep Time: 3 minutes
- Infusions: 3-4
There are a few tricks that will allow you to get to 80C water without a temperature-controlled kettle. One is to allow the boiling water to cool with the lid off for 5 minutes post-boil, but a quicker way is to add 1 part cold water to 4 parts of hot water.
